History: The Shore Music Educators Association was established in 1975.

Purpose: To promote and maintain superior skills and standards among music teachers. To provide performing opportunities for its members and their students. Membership is open to all people interested or involved in the field of music education.

Activities/Events:

  • Monthly meetings are held October through June, on the second Friday of the month. Programs include lectures/demonstrations, master classes, and discussion groups by distinguished members and guests.
  • A quarterly newsletter with a calendar of events and information submitted by members.
  • Monthly student recitals.
  • A non-competitive student evaluation program open to all students of all levels — takes place the first Saturday/Sunday of March.
  • Showcase Recital for intermediate and advanced students who excel in performance — takes place in mid-March.
  • Youth in Music competition for students playing a program of at least 20 or more minutes of music from all four periods — takes place in mid-May.
  • Faculty Recital by members of SMEA. (May)
  • Social gathering. (June)
